During a House Committee on Oversight and Reform hearing, Chairwoman Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) promoted a lie that gun manufacturers “sell the weapons of choice to mass murderers.”
Maloney’s statement couldn’t be further from the truth, and it demonstrates how willfully misinformed the Democrats who want to take your guns really are.
Gun makers sell guns to wholesalers/distributors who then sell them to federally licensed dealers, who, in turn, sell them to citizens who pass a federally conducted background check.
In her opening comments, Maloney described the AR-15 as an “ultra-deadly weapon.”
She mentioned that CEOs from Daniel Defense and Sturm, Ruger, & Co. would address the hearing and she said she hoped they would explain “why they continue to sell the weapons of choice to mass murderers.”
Referencing Daniel Defense specifically she said they “sold the ‘assault weapon’ that was used in Uvalde to murder 19 children.”
The Special Texas House Panel report showed the Uvalde shooter was driven by his uncle to a local gun store where he bought two rifles. One of those rifles was made by Daniel Defense, but it was not sold to him by Daniel Defense. It was sold to him by a federally licensed firearms store after he passed a National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) check, which is the federal background check.
Maloney’s attempt to villainize weapon manufacturers is just the latest in a long string of attacks against producers as Democrats look to circumvent the Second Amendment by destroying the source.
However, as the government pushes harder to trample on the Second Amendment, more and more Americans fear they may have to take up arms against that very government.
A poll conducted by University of Chicago’s Institute of Politics shows nearly one-third of American voters believe they will have to do just that.
“Republican pollster Neil Newhouse and Democratic pollster Joel Benenson with input from students at the [Institute of Politics]” conducted the survey according to the Hill.
On July 24, the Hill reported the pollsters found that “twenty-eight percent of all voters, including 37 percent of gun owners, agreed ‘it may be necessary at some point soon for citizens to take up arms against the government.‘”
When responses were broken down by party affiliation, the poll showed 33 percent of Republican voters and 35 percent of Independent voters believe it may be necessary to take up arms.
Surprisingly, even 20 percent of Democrats believe they may have to take up arms as well.
The poll shows that nearly half of American voters–49 percent–agree with the statement that they “more and more feel like a stranger in my own country.”
A majority of American voters agree with the statement claiming the United States government is “corrupt and rigged against everyday people like me.”
