People who are skilled at shooting are everywhere. But people who are absolutely amazing at shooting aren’t.
That’s where the exposition shooting duo known as the Gould Brothers come in. They are the top team in the world demonstrating their exceptional shooting skills at shows around the country. They have helped popularize “trick shooting”, which is exactly what it sounds like.
Let’s look a little bit more into how the Gould Brothers acquired their extraordinary skills, and how they manage to wow audiences everywhere they go.
Who Are the Gould Brothers?
The Gould Brothers are Steve and Aaron Gould. Unlike other shooters we’ve profiled, they didn’t grow up in a hunting or shooting family because their parents didn’t shoot. Eventually, they started to spend time with their uncle, who taught them how to shoot on their grandparents’ farm with a .22 rifle. They loved to barrel through the woods around the area looking for squirrels.
Aaron is the oldest. And by the time Steve, who is four years younger, got out of college, he became interested in Aaron’s new hobby. Around 2007 they started to train together. They were inspired by some videos of trick shooters they saw on YouTube, and decided that was something they wanted to do together.
The Stellar Tricks They Perform
With personalities geared towards showmanship, they both naturally picked up the skill and shooting angles they needed to become expert exposition men.
Some of the tricks they perform involve hand throwing clay targets, which they shoot from all sorts of crazy positions: backwards, laying down, blind folded — the possibilities are endless. It’s an exciting show to watch the brothers demonstrate all the amazing shots they have mastered.
Endless Videos
The brothers have become YouTube stars. They travel a good portion of the year to different shows dazzling audiences young and old. It might be hard to be away from their families for up to 200 days a year, but the excited crowds keep them energized for more shows.
They have also just signed on with two new sponsorship deals, one with Federal Ammunition and another with Reeds Family Outdoor Outfitters. These are two big outdoor sports companies headquartered in Minnesota. It’s a natural fit for the brothers considering how much ammunition they use with each show.
Family Life is Also Important
Both brothers are married to wives they adore, and each have two children. They plan on passing along their knowledge of shooting to their kids. When interviewed, they both frequently mention their strong faith which definitely helps them live their best lives. They are beyond thrilled that they took what could have just been a hunting and shooting hobby, and turned it into a very rewarding career.
