Now is the Perfect Time to Treat Yourself to New Hunting Gear

Winter hunting season is in full swing. Some of the animals that people are hunting are small game, like squirrels or raccoons, or larger offerings such as the white tail deer or elk. No matter what you are looking to bag this season, it’s important to have the right hunting guns and gear to make the experience the best it can be. Maybe it’s time to treat yourself to some new hunting equipment.

New Hunting Rifles and Shotguns

Want to “hunt with Henry?” If you don’t have a friend named Henry, don’t worry because that’s the tagline for the firearms company, Henry Repeating Arms. They just released four new hunting rifles and shotguns for 2021:

The Lever Action Magnum Express .22 Magnum: This beauty is mainly used for small game or varmint hunting. It has magnified optics, a scope that sits higher up on the rifle, and a rubber recoil pad for improved stability while shooting.

The Lever Action X Model .30-30: This is part of Henry’s X Model line that’s very popular. It has fiber optic sights, M-lok accessory slots, and integrated sling swivel studs. This firearms is definitely what you want to have with you to conquer the deer population.

All Weather Picatinny Rail .45-70 Side Gate: This gun has an extended section of Picatinny rail so that you can have your scope farther forward. That’s going to improve your peripheral vision for fast moving hunting targets. As part of their “All Weather” line, this rifle is treated with special protective substances to stand up to rain or snow for large game hunting.

12 Gauge Single-Shot Turkey Camo Shotgun: Even though you won’t be hunting turkey until the spring, it’s never too early to buy the right shotgun for it. This 12 Gauge features the “Mossy Oak Obsession Camo” pattern and the stock is American Walnut. A truly sharp and accurate weapon to take down those gobblers in a single shot.

Other New Gear to Buy This Year

If you don’t need any new rifles or shotguns, then maybe it’s time to purchase some other new gear. Here are some items that are part of a proper hunting checklist:

  • Ammo bag
  • Backpack
  • Hunting knife
  • Trail markers
  • Game calls
  • Scent attractant
  • Jacket
  • Boots
  • Orange Vest

Keeping your hunting gear and guns in the best shape possible will allow you to hunt with these items year after year. Make sure you clean everything effectively and store it properly when you aren’t using these items in a cool dry place in order to prevent mold, dust, and dirt from ruining them after the hunt is over.

There is nothing worse than pulling out your hunting clothing to find that it wasn’t cleaned correctly. Try special hunter’s detergents that are scent-free and made for sportsmen. Some of the brands to try are Primo Silver XP laundry detergent or Hunter’s Specialty Scent-Away. Both cost a little bit more than regular detergent, but are worth it to prolong the life of your hunting gear.

Have a great winter season of hunting everyone!
