It’s not every day that the media decides it’s news-worthy to point out something particularly dumb that is done by a Democrat, but this story was apparently too good to ignore.
An incriminating photo taken in 1989 was enough to turn a tight Congressional race in Pennsylvania against the Democrat involved. George Scott took a photo nearly 30 years ago during his years in the U.S. Army that was flagrant enough to push his Republican opponent to a hotly-contested win for a seat in Congress.
We all do things when we’re young that we’re not particularly proud of, but unfortunately for George Scott, there was photographic evidence that surfaced at a crucial point in his campaign. As the waning few hours of voting began, a picture came to light of Scott laughingly holding a gun to the head of a fellow American soldier in what is described as a “prank” about handling captives. While Scott claimed the weapon was unloaded and that it was just a gag, voters clearly weren’t convinced.
In the photo, Scott’s mock “captive” is a fellow American — wearing a Panamanian special forces hat, holding a “Just Cause” license plate with the American flag. The Democrats state that Scott was simply celebrating a win with a friend during Operation Just Cause in Panama, where American soldiers were able to unseat Manuel Noreiga as the dictator of the nation.
It didn’t take long for the image to circulate through social media, with some added pressure from Republicans who were watching the political Pennsylvania race as it went into its final hours. The timing of the photo release may have been crucial to contributing to the win of George Scott’s opponent in the race: Scott Perry.
The political world has been rocked by a variety of different scandals in recent months, from Michael Cohen’s admission that he was breaking campaign finance laws for Donald Trump to an insider trading indictment for New York Rep. Chris Collins. It is nice to know that Republicans are not the only ones “under the gun” so to speak during the recent mid-term elections.
Democrats are quite capable of behaving badly — and being outed in the press for their poor choices in the past. With the mid-term elections behind us and the House of Representatives in the hands of the Democrats, we can only hope that the big wins in Congress for Republicans and the friendly high court of the nation will help protect our sacred Second Amendment Rights in the future.
