The past few years have brought some exciting developments in long-range rifles, with companies releasing new products that are both affordable and able to remain accurate at distances that used to be unheard of. If you want a rifle that gives you the range of a special-ops sniper and the precision of an Olympic shooter, check out these three great firearms.
Ruger Precision Rifle
The Ruger Precision Rifle (RPR) debuted in 2015 and was an immediate hit. With a retail price of $1,599, the RPR is more affordable than most any other long-range precision rifle, and rounds fired out of an RPR remain supersonic out to a whopping 1,250 yards. Though the RPR may be a couple years old, it’s still one of the best long-range rifles available in 2017.
Headhunters Long Range Tactical
The Headhunters Long Range Tactical is a precision rifle built on the AR platform, meaning that shooters will have plenty of customization options. It is chambered in .300 WSM, and offers a number of barrel lengths and thread pitches to match a variety of suppressors and other muzzle devices. With an MSRP of $3,858, the Headhunters Long Range Tactical isn’t a cheap rifle, but its accuracy at long ranges is unparalleled.
TrackingPoint M800 DMR
The TrackingPoint M800 DMR is an innovative long-range rifle also built on the AR platform. What really sets this rifle apart, though, is its built-in sighting system, which utilizes a laser system to lock onto the target and automatically adjust for both bullet drop and moving targets. While the rifle itself is only $2,000, you’ll pay $10,000 for the scope. However, the capabilities of this rifle/scope combination make for what is truly the most accurate, versatile long-range rifle on the market today.
