Do you own guns? Do you have kids? If your answer to both of these questions is yes, then you must take necessary precautions to keep your little ones from accessing your firearms. It only takes a couple of minutes for a youngster to injure seriously — or even kill — themselves or someone else with a gun.
Thankfully, it is easy to prevent a tragedy by taking some precautions. Firearm safety is something that every gun owner should take very seriously — especially if they have children. Competitive shooter Julie Golob recently released a book about firearm safety that makes it easy to teach your kids what to do if they find a gun.
Golob Is a professional competition shooter and team captain for Smith & Wesson. The former U.S. Army veteran has won over 50 national and world titles professional sport shooting titles. Golob is dedicated to a pro-gun, pro-hunting lifestyle. She shares her passion for guns and especially firearm safety on her various social media sites, including Twitter and Facebook.
The author even has a YouTube video channel called JulieG.TV, where she posts weekly podcasts on a variety of gun-related topics.
Being a mother of two young kids herself, Golob is especially passionate about talking to young kids about gun safety, which is one reason that she authored the book “Toys, Tools, Guns & Rules: A Children’s Book About Gun Safety.” This book, released in early January, is at the top of the Amazon bestseller list in the “Kid’s safety” category.
Golob points out that, as parents, we teach our kids stranger danger, knife safety and how to be safe crossing the street. However, gun safety is often ignored and that it because it is such a polarizing topic.
Teaching gun safety is critical when it comes to keeping kids safe, as there are millions of guns in the U.S. Even if you don’t own a gun, it is still essential that your kids understand gun safety as many other homes do have weapons. And, it is never too early to teach kids about gun safety. With its outstanding illustrations by Nancy Baltra and simple, yet compelling message by Golob, this book offers a great way to educate kids about gun safety.
The book starts out by exploring various types of guns. It then talks about fundamental safety rules that everyone should know. Golob recommends that everybody learn fundamental shooting skills. She provides detailed written descriptions of both basic and advanced shooting skills.
The book includes high-quality photographs from real shooting competitions, step-by-step instructional images to accompany the written instructions. Other features of the book include goal setting, competition stress, gun-related lingo and practice techniques to help shooters from novices to champions.
“Toys, Tools, Guns & Rules” is an excellent resource for any parent who wants to educate their kids on the importance of following gun safety rules.
