Are These Pistols As Good As They Appear in Video Games?

Let’s face it — the overwhelming majority of Americans today get their firearm education from video games. And while there are some titles out there that at least attempt to be sort of realistic, most over-dramatize the capabilities of real life weapons.

It’s hard to blame these Americans — the modern culture scares many people away from going to a shooting range and trying the real thing out for themselves. Of course, there’s a certain irony with many of these gamers also being sympathetic to gun grabbing, because their favorite games wouldn’t exist without the real things being there to inspire them. This might be a story for another day…

Call of Duty is one of the most popular first-person shooter (FPS) video game franchises to ever exist. The series spans 16 titles in total, not including additional content players are able to download after their initial purchase. At least 100 million people have played one of these titles since 2007. So…this is a big deal — people all around the world are being exposed to firearms based on what COD is showing them.

So, how do the weapons available in the game perform in real life? Are they anywhere close to how they are portrayed in the most popular FPS to date? Matt from Demolition Ranch asked himself these same questions for one of his latest uploads.

If you’ve been following us for a while, you know that we’re big supporters of this channel. The uploads are as informative as they are entertaining. Best of all, the videos contain plenty of weapon demonstrations — and plenty of explosions to boot. There’s really nothing not to like…
