Just last month, we had the pleasure to report a very rare pro-Second Amendment victory for gun owners living in California after a three-judge panel from the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals found California’s ban on magazines to be unconstitutional.
To say we were pleasantly surprised by the ruling is an understatement. We were further surprised that California’s attorney general didn’t file an appeal for the case immediately after the ruling was announced. But alas — it looks like we may have celebrated too soon.
In true California fashion, CA’s Attorney General Xavier Becerra filed a last minute appeal — calling for a full nine-judge panel to take on the case. Essentially, it’s a last-ditch effort to keep this unconstitutional infringement in place.
The announcement prompted a quick backlash from the National Rifle Association, which suggests the appeal was made to make it more likely for the draconian law to be upheld.
“Predictably, California’s Attorney General wants to override our recent victory in the 9th Circuit, where the arbitrary ban against standard-capacity magazines was correctly declared unconstitutional,” NRA-ILA Executive Director Jason Ouimet said in a statement. “Notice the hypocrisy: Like ammunition for self-defense, AG Becerra wants as many judges as possible when it serves himself. The NRA will continue to defend law-abiding Californians and the 9th Circuit’s ruling in favor of your Second Amendment rights.”
While California is known to be one of the most anti-gun states in the union, almost 30 percent of the state’s residents keep firearms in their homes. And with the “defund the police” movement gaining traction in the blue state, it’s safe to say that lives are literally at stake here.

Why is it that it took the13th Amendment to ABOLISH the Constitutional Right to own a SLAVE, but a City Council “vote” can abolish the Second Amendment Right to own a firearm?????

I was thought in 12 grades of school, but of course, that was when they taught real history and the law of the land, that no state could over ride to US CONSTITUTION!!!!!!! But I guess in the communist state of NEWSOME and PIGFACE pilose they can do whatever they want!!!!! I also live in this state and I wish that we, the good people of California, could round up all of these people and not only put them in jail, but reinstate the death penalty and just get rid of all of them!!!!!!!!
