‘We’re At War. Don’t Criticize The President,’ Says Democrat House Majority Leader

Democrat House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer has served in the House of Representatives for more than forty years.

Given that fact, and the fact he is an attorney, he should know that the United States is not officially at war with a country until Congress formally declares war.

He should also know that, in a free country, the opposition party is free to voice its concerns and opinions.

Unfortunately, it seems he doesn’t realize or care about how the government is supposed to work.

In an attack on Republicans who voiced concern over the fact that President Biden canceled a huge oil and gas lease sale at a time when gas is hitting record-high prices throughout the nation, Rep. Hoyer asked how Republicans could “rationalize comments about Biden constricting petroleum production” before calling on GOP representatives to quit playing politics because “we’re at war.”

Granted, “playing politics” is something that happens all too often in Washington.

However, there are many legitimate reasons why Republican politicians and even the public should question the way in which President Biden is handling the current crisis in Ukraine.

While the President has long warned that he does not want to start World War 3 in Ukraine and chastised senior administration members for leaking information that could escalate the conflict, he and his party continue to send billions of dollars in aid to the nation, a move that will almost certainly increase the odds of the United States starting what could become a nuclear world war.

Furthermore, as Dem. Rep. Tom Malinowski recently stated, the United States has no intention of returning assets seized from Russia even in the event of a ceasefire.

Such a statement makes it clear that the United States is keenly interested in regime change at a time when it cannot even manage to care for its own citizens at home.

Americans continue to deal with raging inflation and serious supply chain shortages as babies are being hospitalized because their parents are unable to find the specialized formula they need.

The price of gas has soared to record highs, but the President will only allow 20% of the acreage originally available for oil and gas leases to be put up for lease.

What’s more, the president has also canceled several huge oil and gas drilling leases in the Gulf of Mexico and Alaska while making it clear that he will not renew the five-year program allowing companies to drill in Federal Waters.

Industry experts predict there could be a 500,00-barrel production shortfall per day for years to come as a result of the cancellation, but the administration seemingly cares little about what that would mean for American consumers and businesses.

At the same time, Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm has informed Americans that the President is looking for ways to stop uranium imports from Russia and its allies even though these imports account for about 50% of the power for America’s nuclear power plants.

Nuclear power plants provide almost 20% of the United States’ electrical output; cutting it in the middle of summer could prove devastating to those who live in hot climates, especially if a heatwave were to hit large population centers.

A government that is actively making supply chain shortages worse, causing inflation to rise throughout the nation, and trying to start a war with a nuclear power should be criticized.

The United States is meant to be a free nation and the Constitution allows for freedom of speech not just as a human right but so that people can speak up when things go wrong and voice ideas for making things right.

House Majority Leader Rep. Steny Hoyer’s statement calling on people to stop criticizing his party is not only absurd but also dangerous.

Furthermore, it indicates that the Democrats don’t have a plan for getting the United States out of the mess it’s currently in; rather, the plan seems to be to attack the opposition in the hope that people won’t realize the United States is heading downhill thanks in large part to the Biden Administration and its absurd policies and positions.
