Looking for something exciting to do in February? How about taking a trip to the biggest hunting show in the world? It’s happening for nine whole days in February, the 1st through the 9th, 2020.
The Great American Outdoor Show is the mammoth event that attracts hunters and shooting sports enthusiasts from around the world to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Here are some key details about this enormous show that will get you pumped and ready to see all the best gear and culture surrounding the great American sport of hunting.
The 7th Year of This Hunting Show Extravaganza
This show is for hunters, anglers, boaters, and even people who just love to go camping will enjoy everything this event has to offer. With vendors from all different gun companies like Remington, Sig Sauer, and Colt, gear, and supplies about basically every outdoor product made today you’ll have so much to see and explore.
There is entertainment, seminars, and demonstration style shows throughout the nine day event. You can also meet some hunting experts and outdoor celebrities. Some of country music’s finest artists will also perform in the evenings.
This is also an event that is very family friendly, so bringing the kids along isn’t a problem. There will be areas for them to explore and enjoy as well.
Keep in mind that in order to see everything this show has to offer, you should plan on spending at least two days at the show. Just to let you know there aren’t firearms for sale at the show that you can take with you. It’s just vendors showing all the latest and greatest firearms and gear they have to offer. Licensed dealers are permitted to take orders at the show and have them shipped to you later on though with a proper FFL setup to receive the merchandise for you. Ammunition is available to purchase at the show.
The NRA Sponsors the Show
The National Rifle Association puts on this grand show each year. There are around 1100 exhibitors, so you’ll get to see all kinds of new products that you won’t get a preview on anywhere else. It’s held at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center, which is 655,000 square feet of exhibition space. Make sure you bring some comfortable walking shoes.
Before it became the Great American Outdoor Show, it was previously called the Eastern Sports and Outdoors Show since 1955. So there is a long tradition of this being an amazing show for people that love to hunt and participate in outdoor activities. They partnered with the NRA to expand the show in 2014 and it became what it is today with over 250,000 people attending each year.
