This is What Happens When You Fire FULL-AUTO .50 Caliber Rounds (VIDEO)

This is a great video to show someone who thinks AR-15s and every other “assault” rifle should be banned — because it breaks even more rules.

As you’ll notice within seconds of starting the video below, the AR-15 used has been altered to fire the same rands as a BMG machine gun. To make things even more interesting, the rifle was configured for full automatic fire.

For anyone who doesn’t understand how ammunition works, the .50 caliber is one of the largest rounds you can buy. The rounds are thicker, heavier, and more damaging than what stock AR-15s are designed for. So yes — most of the targets in this video practically explode after taking a hit.

Let’s be clear about this before we go any further — all of this was done for pure entertainment value. As the presenters explain, this is not ideal for home defense for a host of reasons. For one, packing so much of a punch through a standard civilian rifle makes aiming the weapon accurately close to impossible. Also, there’s a good chance that you’ll smack yourself in the eye with the attached scope just from the recoil alone.

So, taking all of this with all the grains of salt you need, let’s watch what happens when you modify an AR-15 rifle for fully-automatic 50 caliber fire.

  1. I hate to be the one to tell you this as you are the “expert” but there is one helluva big difference between.50 BMG and .50 Beowulf Christ on a crutch WTF were you smoking when you wrote this crap??

  2. I HAVE A 12.7X42 OR A .50 BEOWULF, ANDERSON OWNS THE PHRASE (BEOWULF) AND YES IT IS FUN AS HELL TO SHOOT, USE IT FOR HOG HUNTING

  3. ABYSMAL AND DANGEROUS RANGE DISCIPLINE: ON CEASEFIRE IMMEDIATELY CYCLE THE D–N ACTION TO CLEAR IT AND CHECK THE CHAMBER AND REMOVE THE MAG. BEFORE ANYONE APPROACHES OR GOES FORWARD OF THE LINE. YOUR BEHAVIOR IS JUST AS IDIOTIC AS YOUR CLAIM THAT THE UPPER IS .50BMG.
    DUNCE HATS ALL AROUND!

  4. Yup, I will be getting a 50 beowulf upper soon for the ar15 lower I have. There is such a big diff between the 50 beowulf and the 50 BMG that it is amazing that someone would use them interchangeably in an article like this. Also, just practicality, the Beowulf does well on the ar15 lower, but the 50 BMG would be wayyyyy too much for that light gun frame.
It is just slightly irritating that someone makes these mistakes in publishing something, but these days when we have idiotic congresswomen who think that a typical ar15 weighs “more than 10 moving boxes,’ it is amazing that she thinks she knows enough about guns to propose major restrictive laws, such as HR127.

BTW, a typical AR15 with a loaded 20 round mag weighs around 6.5 lbs. A typical woman’s purse, also fully loaded, weighs about 6.35 pounds. It is a curse on the land when the foolish have the authority to forward bills that could became just horrible laws, just because we have a president who understands nothing about guns.

  5. These is one one big difference bettwen 50 ar15 and a 50 cal BMW big big diference, this is sort of silly showing this video.

  6. Looks like everybody is right except you guys. Next time do your homework and maybe you won’t look like such a bunch of MORONS.
