The WORST Guns and Gear Designs We’ve Ever Seen

In today’s modern world, guns and gear design has reached an innovative peak. That doesn’t mean that everything these weapon’s manufacturers come up with is a winning idea. Some of these supposedly advanced items are actually quite dangerous and stupid. They could even be illegal. Dark web shopping, anyone?

You just have to know what you’re getting into anytime you buy something that modifies your firearm. Here are some crazy and terrible ideas in guns and gear design that you probably want to stay away from.

The Glock Auto Sear

You’ve probably thought — wouldn’t it be cool to turn my Glock into a machine gun? That’s the goal of the Glock auto sear. There are ones for sale on sketchy websites mostly from China, but Amazon has a book for sale under an “exotic weapons system” description that tells you how to build yourself. Of course, they say it’s for “entertainment only” since it’s illegal to turn your Glock into a fully automatic weapon. If you do find an actual kit for sale, don’t buy it. The ATF tracks these sales and could show up on your doorstep to arrest you.

The Totally Unsafe “Trigger Light

A company called Trigger Light created a product that activates lights and lasers when you touch the trigger of a gun. It’s meant to work on AR rifles and the Glock pistol. The problem with that is you shouldn’t touch the trigger of a gun unless you are actively in danger and ready to shoot. That whole concept just goes against safe shooting practices. The goal was to cut down on your reaction time, but it’s totally crazy and unnecessary to shine a light on a target by putting your finger on a trigger.

Pointless Weapon Combos

It might seem like a fun idea to have a knife attached to your gun like an old-timey bayonet, and companies such as Grip Knife cater to this concept. But why in the world would you be in a potentially lethal situation and want to stab someone with your firearm? You’d probably just point and shoot. So keep your pocket or tactical knife where it belongs and not mashed together with your gun.

Another weapon combo that makes absolutely zero sense is the “crossbow AR-15.” It’s pretty dangerous, and luckily the PSE TAC 15 isn’t being made anymore. Apparently, they thought this mashup would be fun to use. You could accidentally shoot the AR-15 when trying to engage the crossbow and vice versa.

It’s Best to Only Buy From Reputable Companies

The best way to avoid some bad ideas in guns and gear design is to only buy from vetted and reputable companies. If a website looks like it’s selling some pretty radical stuff that seems illegal or dangerous, it probably isn’t a good idea to send them your credit card information.
