The 6 Best First Person Shooter Video Games

First person shooter video games, often referred to as “FPS games”, are very popular. Of course, they don’t feel anything like the experience of shooting a real gun while at a firing range or during a big hunt, but it’s still a fun way to stimulate shooting sports in general.

These are some of the best-selling games in the world of the past decade or so. If you are a fan of video games and have a large collection, you have probably played some of these games in your own home. Here are the six best first person shooter video games of all time.

#6: Halo 3

An oldie but a goodie, this game came out in 2007. There are a bunch of different Halo games out, but the third installment really nailed the first person shooter genre. You can go back and forth with many different weapons, like a laser and a shotgun. The overall mapping of the game is ideal, so it feels very realistic even considering its fantasy setting.

#5 Titanfall 2

2016 was a great year for video games, as you’ll see with the rest of this list including Titanfall 2. It’s a sequel to Titanfall, the original which came out in 2014. In it, you control these giant robot like creatures with some stellar firearm power. There are also parts of the game where you walk around with a firearm like a traditional FPS.

#4: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered

This version of Call of Duty came out in 2016. These are the games that every other developer tries and fails to copy. It’s a fantastic franchise of games, but the Modern Warfare version is even better. One of the best parts is that it uses real modern weaponry to play the game. It’s a military centric story that will get you quickly addicted to this game.

#3: Destiny 2

2017 brought us the gift of Destiny 2. The first Destiny was great, but the second improved on it in ways that no one imagined. It’s a story-driven game that explores some treasure hunting along with all the shooting. The weapon designs are very innovative as well for this smooth game.

#2: Overwatch

Overwatch is a multiplayer game where you work on a team in your first person shooter pursuits. It came out in 2016, and quickly became a best-seller. You are the hero of the game, but there are almost 30 people you can play as. For fans of the game, there is great news: Overwatch 2 will be out in 2020.

Game #1: Doom

Credited with creating the first-person shooter genre in the early 90s, Doom got a fantastic remake in 2016. It’s considered by some to be the absolute FPS of all time. Seriously — people loved playing this game for days on end. You can play multiplayer in this game, which is fun to compete with your friends online or in person. It’s fast-paced, has crazy weapons to choose from, and will keep you entertained for hours on end.
