Guns, Gear and Ammo: Here’s What You Missed at SHOT Show 2019

Anytime you can spend a week in Las Vegas looking at guns, ammo and accessories is definitely a good week. When you throw in 65,000 other people who love guns just as much as you, then you’ve got the SHOT Show: the biggest weapons extravaganza of the year.

The SHOT (Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor Trade) Show was held January 22-25, 2019 at the Sands Expo Convention Center, and there were over 19,000 new pieces of equipment on display. While we can’t detail each one of these new items or everything that happened, here are a few fan favorite highlights that really stood out during the week.

SHOT Show Stats

With the tens of thousands of attendees to a gun show, you can only imagine that a shooting range was in order. While the convention center didn’t allow testing of the weapons, the Industry Range Day provided an opportunity for the professionals attending the show to try out new weapons and ammo to their heart’s content. More than half a million rounds of ammo were fired in this day alone — all of which occurred safely and without incident. More than 1,700 companies attended SHOT show, showcasing 15,000 weapons that were on display throughout the week.

Sig Sauer MPX Copperhead

One of the most buzzed new weapons that was introduced at the 2019 SHOT Show was the Sig Sauer MPX Copperhead. This fast-moving weapon lives up to its namesake and includes a 3.5″ barrel with an integrated flash hider, 2-position pistol contour brace and still comes in at an overall length of only 14.5 inches and 4.5 pounds. This 99mm Luger adapts to the shooter’s arm, allowing for rapid deployment but it’s the unconventional design of this new AR that caught the attention of visitors to the show in Vegas.

Daniel Defense Delta 5 Rifle

Long-range shooting is taking another step forward with the eagerly awaited introduction of the Daniel Defense Delta 5 Rifle. With a price tag of around $2,199, this new defensive weapon includes a high-grade stainless steel barrel and is a testament to the giant manufacturing infrastructure that the company has achieved. Catering to the precision shooter, the Delta 5 was designed starting with a clean slate from the ground up and is expected to have unparalleled performance.

Upgraded UltiClip XL

If you have a concealed carry permit, you’re aware that there are some definite challenges — mainly, how to carry with your weapon concealed! The upgraded UltiClip XL is a new introduction from the company that provides you with a pressure-based clip that helps you securely attach a wide variety of items to your belt. With a width that will support up to 7 layers of thick denim and can go inside or outside of your belt, the UltiClip XL upgrade allows you to securely and almost invisibly holster your gun, spare mag holder or even a radio case to your belt.

Here’s hoping that this tiny glimpse of the SHOT Show whets your appetite for all the amazing new offerings that are coming in 2019 from weapons manufacturers!
