Bloomberg-Funded Anti-Gun Lobby Spent Over $71M in Three Election Cycles

Michael Bloomberg, liberal billionaire and former mayor of New York routinely pours his personal money and energ into depriving law abiding Americans of their Second Amendment rights.

Through direct personal donations and the millions he pays to SKD Knickerbocker, Bloomberg appears determined to make gun control irresistibly ‘popular’.

Meet SKD Knickerbocker

SKD Knickerbocker is a progressive public relations firm specializing in working for Democratic Party Politicians. Managing director Josh Isay has played an integral part in Bloomberg’s multimillion-dollar gun control campaigns.

According to the firm’s own website, in addition to cofounding SKD Knickerbocker, Isay’s work has included being a member of President Obama’s direct mail team, Michael Bloomberg’s media and direct mail team and the lead media and mail consultant for governors, mayors, senators, members of Congress and other elected officials.

$52 Million to Gun Control Groups in 2014

In October, Breitbart reported that Bloomberg dumped over $52 million into the gun control lobby in 2014 alone. Slate reports that this money consisted of a $36 million gift to Everytown for Gun Safety, and over $16 million to support governors in favor of tighter gun laws.

Adding in the contributions made during the 2012 and 2016 elections cycles, the Bloomberg gun control lobby weighs in at a hefty $71 million plus. This PR firm with Josh Isay has the capability to aggressively press their gun control intentions in a deliberately reasonable and attractive way.

Everytown for Gun Safety

Everytown for Gun Safety is the latest initative and current offspring of parent organizations Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America and Mayors Against Illegal Guns. Moms Demand is the brainchild of rabidly anti-gun Shannon Watts.

Watts, initially identified by NPR as ‘regular people’ and a ‘stay at home mom’ who had ‘never done anything political’ was ‘…folding her kids laundry…’ when news of the devastating Sandy Hook mass shooting broke in 2012. NPR was forced to correct this misidentification. Laundry notwithstanding, Watts’ background is corporate communications and the FEC indicates she began contributing to PAC’s in early 2012 – pretty political by any rational standard.

The foul-mouthed Watts claims the NRA gun lobby trolls try to pick her apart. Watts’ twitter wars with NRA spokesperson Dana Loesch have become almost legendary, although Loesch usually outguns Watts with facts. Easily accomplished when Watts suggests that Loesch put in her “ Potato Head angry eyes” and accuses the NRA of trying to start ‘culture wars’.

Mayors Against Illegal Guns (MAIG), also a parent to Everytown, seems innocent enough at first glance; after all , who is FOR illegal guns?

But MAIG began hemorrhaging members almost from the beginning. John Tkazyik, former mayor of Poughkeepsie said he quit because MAIG was anti-gun.

“MAIG just became a vehicle for Bloomberg to promote his personal gun-control agenda,” he said.

Rockford, Ill. former mayor Lawrence Morrissey stated “I joined in the first place because I believed they were against ‘illegal guns’, I thought they wanted to enforce existing gun laws.”

Everytown carries the same agenda behind yet another facade, labeling concealed carry reciprocity ‘… a dangerous policy that would gut every states’ gun laws and make our community less safe.’

The names of anti-gun organizations may change, members may come and go; but donors like Michael Bloomberg will always have the same agenda. The fact is, the ultimate intentions of most gun control groups is to remove all legally owned guns from the hands of their Second Amendment supporting neighbors.

It is also a fact that many gun crimes are committed with a stolen gun that was originally legally purchased by a law-abiding citizen.

It is society that needs changing — not the Second Amendment.
