Some of the WEIRDEST Guns in History

Would you ever want to own a gun shaped like a Twinkie? Okay, that doesn’t really exist, but throughout history there have been some pretty crazy firearms created. Some of them were for promotions, while others were just weird for the sake of being weird. There are a few that were actually cool ideas, like the Bicycle Gun, but a better fit for a super spy movie in Hollywood rather than practical everyday use. Let’s look at some of the oddball gun creations in firearm history.

The A-Square .577 T-Rex

This gun is kind of strange, just for the name alone. It’s the A-Square .577 T-Rex or .577 Tyrannosaurus. This gun was created in 1933 by an instructor at West Point who made the gun for some hunters in Africa. The two men wanted a massively powerful weapon to be able to stop big game in their tracks with just one shot. The problem with this gun is that the recoil is intense. People who try to shoot this gun usually get thrown off their feet. Whoops.

The Coffee Mill Sharps

Want a gun that can grind your coffee beans? This gun is the brainchild of Lt. Col Walter King of the Union Army during Civil War times. He felt that soldiers were tired of grinding their own coffee beans for that all essential morning cup of joe on rocks in the battlefield. To fix this problem, he created a .52 caliber Sharps that had a working coffee mill in the buttstock of the rifle. There were about a hundred of these guns made, and if you want to see one in person, you can check it out at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West Museum in Cody, Wyoming.

R. J. Braverman Corp Stinger Pen Gun

This firearm is the exact example of a gun that someone like James Bond would use in a movie because 007 had some fun gadgets to get the job done. One of those is the Stinger Pen Gun. It’s a novelty item that shoots .22 caliber bullets out of a barrel that looks like a silver pen. You do have to fold the pen at an angle to make it shoot, but considering that this gun is illegal in most states it’s not something you want to stick in your pocket. They were created in the mid-90s and are a coveted item by collectors. One was sold at auction in 2012 for $2,300.

Lebeda Gun Watch

Another fancy gun gadget is the famed Gun Watch created by Francis Lebeda. This is able to shoot a 4.5mm BB round with a trigger that’s just a button on the top of the watch. It’s not a normal wristwatch, but an old fashioned pocket watch that shoots just one bullet. If you are curious as to whether or not this watch actually tells time, it doesn’t. The internal mechanisms were removed to create this solo shot pistol.
